The AI Strategies team held their first inaugural AI and Tech Policy Summer Institute from
May 22nd to May 24th, 2023.

The AI and Tech Policy Summer Institute is designed to introduce Master's and Doctoral students in social sciences, humanities, and select professional schools to the following:

Fundamental engineering concepts about how AI works

Policy and regulatory frameworks that are evolving to govern AI

Debates on AI ethics

Issue areas including security, economic, and human rights concerns from local to global levels

The AI and Tech Policy Summer Institute will provide opportunities for our selected cohort of students to work with leading scholars, industry experts, government officials, and civil society activists working on AI issues. Throughout the training program students will develop research projects and ideas with one another they can carry into the following academic year with long-term mentorship opportunities as AI & Tech Policy Fellows with GMU's Center for Advancing Human-Machine Partnership.
